Javier Acosta Vélez, (Arecibo, P.R., 1968)
Pintor y profesor. En 1990 obtuvo un Bachillerato en Comunicaciones de la Universidad del Sagrado Corazón en Santurce, en 1995 estudió pintura en la Liga de Estudiantes de Arte de San Juan y en el 2001 completa su Maestría en Pintura en el Savannah College of Art and Design de Georgia. Se desempeña como profesor de comunicaciones en la Universidad del Sagrado Corazón y de humanidades en la Universidad de Puerto Rico, Recinto de Carolina. En 1999 el Savannah College of Art and Design le otorga el Malcom Curtis Propes, Fellowship. Ha exhibido su obra en Puerto Rico, Estados Unidos y la red cibernética. Su obra paisajista se ve influenciada por grandes maestros como Oller, Frade, Pou y Díaz Mackenna. En su obra el color es protagonista y emplea una pincelada suave y de manchas para crear textura y movimiento. Desea crear conciencia de la importancia de la conservación de nuestro medio ambiente y la belleza natural que aún persiste en nuestra isla.

Painter and teacher. In 1990 he obtained a B.A. in Communications from Universidad del Sagrado Corazón in Santurce, in 1995 he studied painting at the Art Students League of San Juan and in 2001 he completed his M.A. in Painting at the Savannah College of Art and Design in Georgia. He teaches communications at the Universidad del Sagrado Corazón and humanities at the University of Puerto Rico, Carolina Campus. In 1999 the Savannah College of Art and Design awarded him the Malcom Curtis Propes Fellowship. He has exhibited his work in Puerto Rico, the United States and the cybernetic network. His landscape work is influenced by great masters such as Oller, Frade, Pou and Díaz Mackenna. In his work, color is the protagonist and he uses a soft brushstroke and stains to create texture and movement. She wishes to create awareness of the importance of the conservation of our environment and the natural beauty that still persists on our island.
