Betsy Padín (Virginia, EU, 1933)

Pintora. Estudió en la Universidad Autónoma de Mexico, donde continúa la carrera de Artes Plásticas y de Letras Españolas en la Academia San Carlos. Obtiene su bachillerato en la Universidad de Arkansas, Estados Unidos, y su maestría de la Universidad de Yale, Connecticut, Estados Unidos. Reside en Puerto Rico desde el 1961. Es socio fundador y ha sido miembro de la Junta de Directores de la Liga de Arte de San Juan y del Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Puerto Rico. Entre otras distinciones, es merecedora del Premio Pintura, Salón UNESCO, Museo de Historia, Antropología y Arte de la Universidad de Puerto Rico y delegada por Puerto Rico a la II Bienal de Pintura del Caribe, Museo de Arte Moderno, Santo Domingo, República Dominicana. Su obra presenta una figuración simbólica con elementos de abstracción objetiva, mediante el manejo del espacio, texturas y transparencias.

Painter. She studied at the Universidad Autónoma de Mexico, where she continued her studies in Fine Arts and Spanish Literature at the Academia San Carlos. Obtained her bachelor’s degree from the University of Arkansas, USA, and her master’s degree from Yale University, Connecticut, USA. She has lived in Puerto Rico since 1961. She is a founding member and has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Art League of San Juan and the Museum of Contemporary Art of Puerto Rico. Among other distinctions, she is the recipient of the Painting Award, UNESCO Salon, Museum of History, Anthropology and Art of the University of Puerto Rico and delegate for Puerto Rico to the II Biennial of Painting of the Caribbean, Museum of Modern Art, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Her work presents a symbolic figuration with elements of objective abstraction, through the use of space, textures and transparencies.
