David Álvarez (San Juan, PR, 1972)

David Alvarez was born, raised and still lives in Puerto Rico. Alvarez started publishing comic strips and cartoons in local newspapers and magazines, and then explored the comic book world by self-publishing a series of a humorous cartoon superhero called ‘Changuy’ and also worked and developed a few local animated projects. His next creation was ‘Yenny Lopez’, that started in Primera Hora in 2002 and is distributed in the USA through Universal Uclick. In 2007, ‘Kike Koki’ was published in the newspaper El Nuevo Día for four years.

Alvarez is a freelance artist for Warner Brothers Worldwide Publishing and his work can be seen in ‘Looney Tunes’ comics as a penciller. He cooperated with writer Gail Simone on a short story published in ‘9-11: Emergency Relief’. He also illustrates storyboards for Warner Brothers animated series ‘Krypto the Superdog’. In 2010, he drew the comic book ‘Muppet King Arthur’ for Boom Studios, starring Jim Henson’s The Muppets.
